The benefits of Compression Therapy are plentiful and the reasons vary from person to person why you may choose to wear compression socks or stockings. As shown in the above chart, some of the most prevalent symptoms or conditions that benefit from compression therapy are:
Pregnancy related swelling and vein problems
Varicose or spider veins
Lymphedema or edema
Swelling, pain or blood clots in the lower legs, also known as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
Poor circulation from sitting for long periods
Post-surgical and post-sclerotherapy treatment
It can even be used as a preventive measure to maintain healthy legs for someone who spends extensive amounts of time on their feet. Quite simply, when we stand still for long periods, the forces of gravity increase the pressure within the veins of the legs where the greater effects happen at the ankle and decreases gradually up the leg and body. This pressure depends on the vertical distance of the column of blood from the heart to the foot. That's why gradient compression stockings are designed with the pressure greatest at the ankle and diminishing as it moves up the leg in order to counter the effects of the higher venous pressures.
Compression therapy products are put on in the morning upon arising, which is typically before any significant swelling would occur, and then removed at night. Throughout the day the compression prevents blood from pooling in leg veins, which in turn helps your overall circulation and lessens or eliminates any leg swelling you may have.
When shopping for compression socks or stockings, it is best to measure earlier in the day before swelling builds in the legs. Measurements taken later in the day after swelling occurs may cause you to choose an item that is too large and then not effective.
There are many types of compression socks and stockings available without a prescription and they do offer wide-ranging benefits. Before wearing a compression therapy of 20 mmHg (Firm Compression) and above, it is generally recommended to consult your health care provider to find out if graduated compression stockings are right for you. If the answer is yes, they can tell you what pressure grade you should buy for maximum benefit and relief.
Had vein injections in my legs last September. My doctor ordered my first pair, and I like them so much I ordered a second pair directly.

Smooth and comfy. Much easier to get on and off than long support hose. I have thin legs and ankles with big feet and I can wear these in a S. Forget I'm wearing them sometimes.
Can't think of any

Have wore these socks for years and had found them to be comfortable and durable , this time the order fit a little larger but the material has been changed. The name and logo have washed off some of them and one sock has a run in the back from pulling it on. Now I am very carefull when putting them on as any tugging can result in a tear

The best stocking I have ever purchased. I have worn support socks for 20 years now. Sigvaris is top of the line. Its important to spend the money to take good care of yourself. We only have 1 pair of legs. If you think about it a coffee drinker that buys a cup of coffee daily spends at least 3.00 per cup. That is approximately 60.00 a month not including the weekends. So, when you look at it this way-the investment in support socks really isn't that much. Taking good care of yourself starts when the problem surfaces and not when the problem is magnified in later years.
I hope you enjoy this post. I love shopping with discount surgical out of brooklyn, New York. I always get my orders on time!
Warmly,
Miss Teresa

I had vein procedures in both legs due to venous insufficiency. My doctor reccomends wearing compression stockings to prevent this condition and worse problems. He suggested wearing compression stockings all of the time. Especially if sitting or standing for long periods of time and especially when traveling. Leg sleeves are his preference because they are much easier to take on and off and they are in style, but I'm a little too old for just wearing the little running shorts with the leg sleeves. I have found Sigvaris leg sleeves to be more comfortable than other brands. The compression feels good and they don't need adjusting. The thinness alllows me to wear them under my yoga pants without anyone even noticing that I have them on. Then I can wear the little short shorts over the leggings if I choose to.
If your legs feel heavy or you have discomfort in them, check with your doctor to see you can wear the compression stockings and ask about this procedure. It's easy, not painful and definitely worth being able to walk without pain and to prevent worsening problems. I hope this is helpful to you.

I wear these sleeves almost daily, not just for exercise but all day, ever since I had vein ablation. They're easier to put on than socks, and especially in summer, I can wear them with sandals. They just make me feel better.
