Compression

Compression stockings are medical grade devices designed to move blood flow.

Support compression stockings are made available in multiple compression support levels. Most commonly compression support stockings come in mild (8-15 mmHg), Medium (15-20 mmHg), Firm (20-30 mmHg), X-Firm (30-40 mmHg) gradient compression levels.

Compression Therapy Guide

Mild
  • Provides relief and minimizes tired and achy legs.
  • Prevents fatigued legs from long periods of sitting or standing.
  • Helps relieve minor swelling of feet, ankles, and legs.
  • During pregnancy, helps prevent the formation of varicose and spider veins.
  • Helps maintain healthy, energized legs.
First Time Wearing Compression Stockings? We recommend you start with 15-20mmHg
Medium
  • For the prevention and relief of minor to moderate varicose and spider veins.
  • Helps relieve tired, aching legs, and minor swelling of feet, ankles, and legs.
  • During pregnancy, helps prevent varicose veins and spider veins.
  • Helps prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), also known as economy class syndrome.
  • Used in post-sclerotherapy treatment to help prevent the reappearance of varicose veins and spider veins.
  • Ideal compression level used for those traveling long distances.
Firm
  • Helps prevent and relieve moderate to severe varicose veins (also during pregnancy).
  • For post-surgical and post-sclerotherapy treatment to help prevent the reappearance of varicose and spider veins.
  • Helps in treatment of moderate to severe edema or lymphatic edema.
  • Helps with the management of active ulcers and manifestations of post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS).
  • Helps relieve superficial thrombophlebitis.
  • Helps prevent orthostatic hypotension (sudden fall in blood pressure when standing).
  • Helps prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), also known as economy class syndrome.
Extra Firm
  • Helps prevent and relieve severe varicose veins.
  • Used in the treatment of severe edema and lymphedema.
  • Used in post-surgical and post-sclerotherapy treatment to help prevent the reappearance of varicose and spider veins.
  • Helps reduce symptoms of Orthostatic Hypotension and Postural Hypotension
  • For the management of Venous Ulcers and manifestations of Post-Thrombotic Syndrome (PTS).
  • Prevents deep vein thrombosis (DVT), also known as economy class syndrome.
RX 40-50 mmHg Gradient Compression Stockings are generally indicated for more Serious Venous Diseases such as Acute Leg/Ankle Swelling, Varicose Veins, Chronic Vein Insufficiency and Deep Vein Thrombosis.

The benefits of Compression Therapy are plentiful and the reasons vary from person to person why you may choose to wear compression socks or stockings. As shown in the above chart, some of the most prevalent symptoms or conditions that benefit from compression therapy are:

  • Pregnancy related swelling and vein problems
  • Varicose or spider veins
  • Lymphedema or edema
  • Swelling, pain or blood clots in the lower legs, also known as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
  • Poor circulation from sitting for long periods
  • Post-surgical and post-sclerotherapy treatment

It can even be used as a preventive measure to maintain healthy legs for someone who spends extensive amounts of time on their feet. Quite simply, when we stand still for long periods, the forces of gravity increase the pressure within the veins of the legs where the greater effects happen at the ankle and decreases gradually up the leg and body. This pressure depends on the vertical distance of the column of blood from the heart to the foot. That's why gradient compression stockings are designed with the pressure greatest at the ankle and diminishing as it moves up the leg in order to counter the effects of the higher venous pressures.

Compression therapy products are put on in the morning upon arising, which is typically before any significant swelling would occur, and then removed at night. Throughout the day the compression prevents blood from pooling in leg veins, which in turn helps your overall circulation and lessens or eliminates any leg swelling you may have.

When shopping for compression socks or stockings, it is best to measure earlier in the day before swelling builds in the legs. Measurements taken later in the day after swelling occurs may cause you to choose an item that is too large and then not effective.

There are many types of compression socks and stockings available without a prescription and they do offer wide-ranging benefits. Before wearing a compression therapy of 20 mmHg (Firm Compression) and above, it is generally recommended to consult your health care provider to find out if graduated compression stockings are right for you. If the answer is yes, they can tell you what pressure grade you should buy for maximum benefit and relief.

I love the tie dye colors. I only wear a compression stocking on one leg. Would it be possible to get one dyed blue and one dyed purple so I have one of each? Asked by Serenity

this item is sold by the pair, therefore, if requested to dye the same will be done by the pair.

In the photos for this item, I see some footless or legging type stockings, however in the choices, I only see full foot or open toe. How can I order these in the legging style? Asked by Serenity

The no foot item is on the 2000BT, which is the legging in the 15-20mmHg

2001AG indicates in description a Shadow color but not available on order area? Is it available? Asked by Ann E

Unfortunately the Shadow is no longer available, it was a seasonal color that they no longer make.

Do you still offer the seasonal custom colors? They used to be listed as options on your site but I don't see them anymore. Asked by Kathleen

I use thigh highs and even though I have gone to a smaller size since losing weight I still have trouble with them staying up and my thigh size is in the size range.

Best stockings ever! 1 people found this helpful

I have been buying these for several years. Tried them after trying several other brands and will never go back. They fit well, never slip down, are comfortable and very durable. I wear them daily (1 pair per work day) and replace them 12-18 months after buying.

I have had to have three knees replaced. One is only comfortable when I wear this pair of Juno stockings. I have worn them for 15 years. I like the new selection of colors., too. Wears great and they don't droop to the ankles by the end of the day. Expensive but you will be comfortable in them for years and they are worth it.

Great for larger legs 1 people found this helpful
    Overall

    Fit

these are VERY soft. They're not cotton, though, so they do sometimes bother my skin a little bit because i have extremely sensitive skin. However, they're some of the easiest stockings to put on that I've tried, and the fact that they fit my large thighs is extremely important. I think someone with thighs 4-5" larger than mine could still wear these. Definitely get the silicone band, if you can handle the silicone and elastic.

I found the short length to be too long, so I will try the petite length. Right now, the short length stockings go right up to my groin, and since that sits above the crease of the fleshiest part of my thigh, they stay up on their own without any additional adhesive. I'm hoping the petite length does the same, but if they don't I will stick with the short and deal with the occasional bunching at the ankles and knees.

Closed toe still have plenty of room in the foot (I wear a size 10.5 in women's), and don't feel like they're crushing my toenails like some other styles/brands.

I've bought other Juzo stockings and they were very rough against my skin. These are definitely soft. I alternate between these and Sigvaris Cotton, but the Sigvaris only go to mid-thigh so I must use adhesive. These Juzo's help me give my skin a break from the adhesive.

I don't like that there are non-refundable specialty colors, so stick to the basic colors if you're not sure what size to wear. I've found a lot of variation in the sizes of different Juzo styles, so if you're used to buying a different model number of the Juzo brand, you might want to make sure you wear the same size in this style before buying a nonrefundable/nonreturnable color.

I usually handwash all my stockings after every wearing, but I put these in the washing machine on a quick cycle (it's a pretty gentle front-loader, so I'd suggest a garment bag for a rougher machine or a top-loader) recently, and found that when I thought the stockings were wearing out and losing their compression, the washing machine made them like new again. Just hang dry-- if you're lucky, they'll be spun out so well that they'll be dry within a couple of hours. When I hand wash them, it always takes at least 12 hours for the silicone band to dry.

I finally had vein surgery this week and I found that these stockings worked better and were infinitely more comfortable than the ever-loosening fake ace bandage they expected me to wear for 24 hours. If you're planning to have a vein treatment someday, I recommend having a pair of these handy for recovery!
